Top 10 Games of 2016!

Something I've wanted to do for a long time, is make a top 10 list. However, I SUCK at commentaries, and I didn't want to make those slideshow videos for it, so I decided this is the best way to do it. My planned video list is still happening, but I'm still compiling that list. So yeah, from 10 to 1, here we go
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello There!
10. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Yep, you read that right. I actually kinda liked this year's installment of Call of Duty. After the original trailer, I was cautiously anxious for it. I was astounded by the amount of hate it was getting, several months before it came out. Every year I say I'll pass on the COD game of the year, but I always end up getting it on black Friday, and that's just what happened this year.
The Campaign was actually really good, and I enjoyed the new approach to missions, giving you the option to choose the order in which you play certain missions. The characters were almost all great (especially Ethan), and the cinematic moments throughout the 7-hour campaign were great times.
The Multiplayer was also a really enjoyable experience, with what I feel is the best Gun Game we've gotten in years. I met several chill and pretty cool people during matches, and this is my best W/L ratio since Black Ops 1, even though I don't care about that too much. I haven't played Zombies so I can't tell you about that, but yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by this game, and I still find myself going back to it from time to time.

9. Tom Clancy's The Division
Yet another game that is surprisingly on this list. While I don't play it as much nowadays, when this first came out, I had one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences of my life. The beta was a thing of it's own, and I have dozens of hours recorded just in the Dark Zone beta alone, with a group of 8 I was in, being absolute jerks and going rogue everywhere.
Then the main game came out, and the adventures continued. My friend, VRTX Provable, was almost always my partner, in campaign and Dark Zone, and I have another several dozen hours recorded from the main game, of all of our chaotic adventures, which I should probably get around to editing.
The game itself is 'good'. The campaign is almost non existent, but I still enjoyed the diverse missions, and probably unfairly hard bosses, but the RNG was in my favor, as I was the only person in my group who seemed to get high end weapons, which also caused some interesting predicaments that involved my group turning on me to get my gear.
Also, this was one of the only games I bought the season pass for. So that's a plus

8. Dishonored 2
Boy was I excited for this game. The first one was, in certain aspects, a masterpiece. So I had high hopes for the next installment. And it is safe to say, those expectations were met, and I'm glad they were.
I find myself to be actually pretty good at stealth games, so I usually take that route when given the choice....except for this one time.
I took the high chaos route, and killed almost every person I came across in my play through, which wasn't the smartest thing, as I came across certain parts where I was stuck, and had to start the entire mission over again, and take a different approach. A main driving point about games for me is the story, and this story was easy enough to invest myself in, and enjoy the progression of characters and events, and how those are affected by my choices of play style. Whenever games are able to make me feel that I matter, are an instant good time in my book.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
This was another game that I was extremely excited for. Human Revolution was an exceptional game, the original Deus Ex is still one of my favorite games ever, including that soundtrack, that's still great, even by today's standards. But this game is great is lots of aspects. The gameplay is fun, no matter what way you want to play, and the story requires some thought, just, less than Human Revolution.
Honestly, I don't know what to say exactly, it's a great game. Buy it. Moving on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Watch Dogs 2
Next up in the world of hype, is Watch Dogs 2. I was hyped, but cautiously hyped, due to the lackluster game that was the first Watch Dogs.
First thing first, I don't think I have ever played a game with more enjoyable and likable characters than this game (except #3 on this list). I legitimately cared about the characters, and hoped nothing terrible would happen to them. Because of this, I had an absolute blast during my 15 hour play time, and I still haven't done all the side missions. The gameplay has been greatly improved since the first one, and the parkour mechanics were a well appreciated addition. Also, being able to call the police/gangs on random people was great. The online was also very good (when it worked properly). I actually want to buy the season pass, but, no money. Derp:/
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. DOOM
I actually got in trouble as a kid for playing the original DOOM, because it was 'too violent' for me. I never got around to playing 2 and 3, so this was a good jumping back in point for me, and I'm glad that I did play this. The campaign experience was extraordinarily good. The whole 'no tutorial' mentality was refreshing, and was a great time. The fluidity of the combat without a sprint was weird, but good. No reload kept the combat fast and engaging. Also, Doomguy's 'not caring' toward the other characters and the warnings they gave me several laugh out loud moments, in a game about fighting demons, surprising right?
Also, multiplayer was a blast, and I feel like I am the only person saying that, and I'm disappointed that that's the case. Me and my friends got together on day one, and wreaked havoc across online matches, and not to brag, we were pretty good as a team. Performing executions on other players felt so satisfying, and playing as demons, just massacring the enemy team many times over. Typing this makes me want to play it again, which I might do when I'm done.

4. Destiny: Rise of Iron
If you know me at all, this is no surprise. I really enjoy Destiny, and I will always support/defend unwarranted hate against this game. But that might be another post entirely.
Before I start, I will say, I do think The Taken King is better than Rise of Iron, but that's for reasons that are easy to explain. Taken King was $40, and was a revolutionary change in the world of Destiny. Rise of Iron is simply an addition to already built foundations, and Taken King had more content, which obviously makes a difference.
Rise of Iron however, is/was a great experience. Who can forget the Launch Day Queue that shouldn't have happened, but made for some funny talks between my party members as we waited for half an hour before we got in, and I was the first one to get in, after I skipped for 74, to 123,000, to 40,000, to 0, which was weird.
The campaign was great, and the additions to crucible made the experience that much better. But the Raid, was great. I used LFG to find a group of players, mixture of age groups (No Squeakers!), and Vosik was the death of us, as we spent 90 minutes on him, even with guides, which I recorded, and probably should get around to editing/posting. The events were a welcome addition that I'm glad they got the attention they deserve. I still haven't been able to reach level 400, and have yet to go flawless in Trials, so, Derp:/

3. Final Fantasy XV
This game was hype overload. I'm not the biggest into Final Fantasy games, I'll just be honest, I think it was just that I never had the chance to give it a try, but I saw it as a responsibility of mine to play this game, but long behold, delays upon delays occur, and the expectations grew, because delays usually are a good thing, right?
I'm not sure it helped, but man this game is great. Aside from Watch Dogs 2, this game had the most likable characters to me. I enjoyed the 30 something hours I put into it so far, and I'm still not even close to done, as I have been doing mostly side missions the whole time. The new combat system is great, and the open world looks great, with the random encounters and bounty hunts kept me interested and engaged while I totally didn't do the main missions. I am actually excited to continue my playthrough, and am really glad I bought it when I did.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Titanfall 2
Another game, another Hype Train, and this one, had no breaks. I LOVED the original Titanfall, to the point where I owned EVERY piece of media associated with Titanfall, including the statue and season pass. I logged over 200 hours in the game, and met several great people during matches. So this one had a lot to prove, and it definitely proved it, whatever 'it' is.
The addition of a campaign was an instant excitement factor for me, and of course the addition of 5 more titans, totaling 8 different titans available to use. I was ready to pump hundreds of hours into this game, and so far, I've made progress.
The campaign was amazing, and I enjoyed playing through multiple times to gather collectibles and get all the achievements possible. The interactions between Jack and BT made me legitimately laugh out loud at just how innocent and out of nowhere the comedy was. The boss fights were enjoyable, and not too easy like I expected them to be.
The multiplayer is probably one of the best FPS multiplayers I've ever played, and I always find myself never being able to play 'only one match'. I find myself maining the Ion Titan and the Grapple ability for my Pilot, and not to brag, I'm not terrible at it, in fact, I'm kinda good at it. Being good always helps in making something better, but even those days that I'm not in my prime, it's still enjoyable, which is kinda rare in recent years. So DEFINITELY pick this one up, I heard it didn't sell that well, which is a shame, and should be a crime on the behalf of anyone who didn't pick it up.

NUMBER 1 - DARK SOULS 3!
Again, anyone who knows me knows that this isn't surprising at all. I am a die hard Dark Souls fan, and I had the highest expectations for this game than I did for any other. The actual happiness that I had going into this game, was something I wish I can relive down the line. The experience of going through the new environments and facing the new enemies/bosses, also having my ears be graced by the glorious new soundtrack.
I actually did play Bloodborne, so coming out of that game to this one was a pretty comfortable change. The combat system was a welcome change from Dark Souls II, even though I think DS2 is the better game, very slightly, but that will also be its own post, as I need a while to explain that.
The boss battles were probably the most unique/best of the series, accompanied by the best soundtrack of the souls series. The Co-op was seamless and was greatly increased in quality by the password system, and gave me and my friends the best PvP experience of the souls series, and even a really enjoyable PvE, tackling some of the unfairly difficult bosses (*cough* Lord Wolnir *cough*). I am super excited to see what's in store for the second DLC, and I hope it continues on the back of the base game and give us a welcome conclusion to the souls series, as this might sadly be the last souls game, which would suck if it really is the case.

If you read this whole list, thanks. I realize I did go overboard with the details, and will see how I can cut that down next time.
But is there any list you would like to share, leave a comment! I read 'em!
So, until next time, which should be that 2017 video list, see ya.
:D
